Blake Appleby was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He was fortunate and blessed to have godly parents and siblings who are still serving the Lord faithfully in ministry. Growing up, Blake attended and participated faithfully in his local church. He was active in his youth ministry and even served on their leadership team.
He knew how to articulate the gospel and he knew how to spit out facts. His beliefs were based on his parent’s faith, his knowledge of the Bible and years of jumping from event to event “rededicating” his life to Christ. While attending a youth camp, at the age of 16, Blake gave his heart and life to Jesus. He then exchanged his performance-based life for a life that rests in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
After realizing that his life would never be the same, Blake surrendered to preach the gospel. He entered Bible College after struggling to pass his senior year just to find out that college wouldn’t be an easy road either. He was told that he would never publically communicate and that he was not cut out to be a minister. It was in these moments of defeat and heartache that Blake rested in the faithful character and attributes of God.
In 2009, God began opening doors for Blake to share the gospel with students at various events. Shortly after, he was brought on staff by the First Baptist Church of Bryceville and married the love of his life, Meredith. Blake now serves as the Student Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Umatilla reaching students for the glory of God.
Blake is a normal, ambitious guy with a passion to reach students with the gospel. God has gifted him with the boldness to preach what the text says with clarity and without compromise. He loves Jesus, his wife and their baby boy, Micah Chandler who is due in March of 2014. In addition, his new student Bible study, A Brief Moment will be available during the summer of 2014.
